If you ask anyone in Tinseltown, they'll tell you Tom is VERY worried about the Morton book and what it reveals. Those in the know say this smacks of pre-damage control. That is, if Tom and Katie control the release of the fact that they don't share a bedroom, when the Morton book comes out they can say "oh, that's old news. Everyone knows Tom snores and that's why we have seperate rooms. Nothing sordid about it. blah blah blah"

Tom did say he got the power from scientology L ron to get his nose problems fix. Tom say he not gets colds any more.
I did see him say that on you tube about scientology powers he got. I did try find it on you tube again and it has gone now.

Your post rings very true to me. I know that expression from personal experience as well. You needn't be physically violent to be abusive (that's just the icing on the cake, so to speak). His controlling gestures, expressions & actions are abusive enough for me. Add the isolation from family & friends (whether or not he "made" her do it) and you have a recipe for a classic case of psychological abuse.

I wouldn't be shocked if she was depressed. I think her haggard, aged apperance probably has to do with the fact that 1. She seems to have forgone make-up most of the time 2. She has lost a lot of weight and that can make one appear older 3. Her new nose makes her face look more pinched and older, IMO. Also, I think she may have always had bad skin that pre-MTP she just took better care to disguise. I remember thinking in those infamous cold sore pictures that she had really bad skin for...

I totally agree with Hippo re: psychological abuse. Not to mention, even if Tom isn't abusive, Co$ definately is. I also think that Katie's lack of a bond with Suri could be because of Post-partum depression. Or maybe just a severe depression from being around Tom and Co$.
One thing I 've noticed about Katie is that her skin is really pale now, whereas before, she had a more olive complexion. I have a similar complexion to Katie, and when I had depression, my face was...

Anything's possible. Still, I think its just as possible that her dazed look is due to the fact she is unemployed, bored and unhappy that this is not the life she envisioned when she agreed to play the role of the lifetime as Tom Cruise's beard.

I dunno. . . anything is possible but in all his years of Hollywood, there hasn't even been so much as one rumor of MTP getting physically violent with anyone-not even a shoving match on a movie set. I think he's an arrogant meglomaniac but that does not make one an abuser.

My feeling is she needs him more than he needs her. If she had not agreed to be his beard then he would have eventually found someone who would have. Without him, would anyone remember who she is?

It's highly possible that Katie is an abused woman. This has nothing to do with intelligence. The CO$ and Tom may have her scared sh*tless, hence the strain. She may look dazed because abused people ARE dazed. They don't know when they're going to be attacked next, or for what.

I was verbally abused in my marriage and I often had that look on my face. I never knew what was going to trigger the next explosion of criticism, or what I was going to be threatened with....

And I don't think KAK has a lack of mental ability or understanding. She got accepted into Columbia - - I think, under normal circumstances, she would probably be fairly intelligent (at least book smart). But she let her ambition and desire to be famous get the best of her.

I was going to say this. She's clearly not mentally deficient in the academic sense. She had to know what she was doing at the beginning -- I just don't think she (or Tom)...

I with psychotic. I think the innocent act is just that-an act. I think she was just as ambitious as Nicole Kidman was the only difference being Kidman had the talent to make it as an A-Lister. Based on her pre-MTP interviews, it was obvious she did not want to be a working actress but rather a movie star. Book wise, she is probably smarter than MTP. Afterall, she was bright enough to get into Columbia and she was bright enough to get movie roles albeit forgettable ones but...

I am tempted to agree with you NHWNN, except for all that strain on her face. That suggests to me that there is some inner conflict going on. If she was incapable of making decisions, and had given that responsibility over to someone else, you would think that that would take the pressure off and she could while away the hours, with not a care in the world, contentedly playing with her ribbons and stuffed toys.

Does anyone else get the sick feeling, the more they read, that maybe Katie does'nt stand up to Tom because she is not able to? So many of her choices and actions are not those of a typical adult woman. She seems unable to to make her own career choices (even before Tom, I have read she had to have someone else make them for her), she does'nt seem able to choose her own clothes or dress herself...
