I stand by what I said earlier that SYTYCD would give KAK a very easy dance routine to perform because she's not going to be capable of much more than
that.
Sorry, but the Judy Garland routine is going to look like complete and total amatuer hour compared to the dancing the contestants and other guests do - that is
if they keep the same choreography (which with KAK, they will probably have to). If someone were to audition for this show with this routine, they wouldn't
even make it to the judges.

SYTYCD is one of my favorite shows, too. The only taped segments I am aware of are the little blurbs they insert to introduce the dancing couple and show how
they prepared for their dance or to provide a little background so the audience gets to know them better. All performances are live -- even the guest
performers on results day. If KAK is as good as that one "source" claims, why is she given the opportunity to perform on tape? She has the benefit
of starting and stopping and even editing. I don't see anything special enough in that to warrant a "100th episode special."

Um . . . despite it's caberet style, "Get Happy" has a very Christian message. So how did that slip though her minders? Are they going to
change the lyrics to make it more $cieno friendly.

This is a joke, right? Any guests that perform on the show are "live". I am unaware of any guest not performing in front of the live audience. And
WHY is she a guest? Katie is not known as a dancer. (or a singer) So her "Eli Stone" performance qualifies her??? And a Judy Garland
number....grrrrr....don't even get me started!
I have always reserved some sympathy for Katie, but Kid, Goebbels and others make an excellent point. This chick is all over the place. She seems to have no career path, other than keeping that smug face of hers front and center. Everything she does reeks of desperation to stay relevant. I am surprised at how angry this makes me. With all the truly talented people out there, this little twit gets to jump to the front of the line. Because Tommy can make a phone call????!!!!! |

I can't wait. Judy Garland was tiny little slip of a person, barely 5 feet tall. She was also very high-waisted made her appear to have longer legs,
which of course was all illusion by the costume department. But she did have major-league talent. She could clearly sing her ass off and had no problems in
the field of dance, as demonstrated by the sheer number of MGM musicals she did in the course of her career. She could pull off a dance routine almost
completely based on her panache and style.
Katie, on the other hand, is awkward in her own skin, never looks at ease and always seems kind of "horsey" just standing or walking. She has a long torso, relative to her height and kind of stumpy tree-trunk-like legs. I cannot wait to see her attempt this dance number. You guys are correct, her career or what's left of it, has no direction. It's totally scattershot at this point. Whatever her agent can find that gets her out in front of any kind of audience. She's screwed.

Dancing and (god forbid) singing Get Happy is one thing - doing what appears to be a take-off of the great Judy is quite another. I see.......another epic fail. And yeah, what exactly is she trying to achieve with this? Never discuss Scientology with the critic. Just discuss his or her crimes, known and unknown.

I had not seen this clip of Judy Garland before. When I tried to watch it, there was no sound, so I just studied the dancing.
I am sure that Judy Garland really sells this based primarily on her singing. When I watched it with the sound off, and ignored the backup dancers, Judy's choreography alone is extremely simple. Of course she makes it a show-stopper with the power of her performance, but just the steps themselves are not complicated. Katie, on the other hand, is not a power-house, actually the antithesis of that. Since the segment is taped, I predict heavy editing, dubbing, and lots of smoke machines. The good news: if she wears Judy's same type of wardrobe, Katie's saggy boobs will at least be covered up. |

Also, I remember seeing a video about a year ago of Katie in the Debbie Allen dance Academy studio, and it looked like Tyce Diorio walked thru the shot. Does anyone else remember this? Maybe this has been in the works for a long, long time. I don't think this is going to be a trainwreck. It sounds like there is going to be tons of back-up dancers, so they'll probably do the tough stuff. And Tyce is an excellent choreographer, he'll be able to design a routine that will make Kak look good, while working around any dancing weaknesses she has. Broadway style is probably one of the easier dance styles to do. BTW, ballroom dancing is pretty hard. Even the well-trained contemporary and ballet dancers on SYTYCD have trouble with ballroom. |
