I don't like this family. Their only goal is to pro-create for attention. They've proven it by their behavior. It isn't about any religion other
than the religion of lining their own pockets and milking the system. Let's face it. If this was a black family with this many kids, getting government
kick backs, tax exemptions, state-funded healthcare, etc., they would get prosecuted for abusing the system, and would be the victims of some serious public
derision.
These people abuse their kids by denying the very basic freedom of choice. Their choices are all taken away from them. The girls are all slaves to their mother's desire to be as fertile as she can be until it kills her. The babies are wacked with spoons for daring to move from their blanket. None of the kids are being given a proper education that allows for them to have choices when they grow up. They aren't even allowed outside social contact for fear it will be detrimental to Papa Duggar's religious teachings. They are fed pure, preservative filled crap day in and day out...that the girls have to make for 20 people. They don't have any personal space whatsoever and have to share two bathrooms and their bedrooms. (even the 20yr old boy has to sleep in the same room as his toddler brothers) The boys are being taught to have women cater to their every whim, and no basic survival skills to survive without a woman doing his laundry, cooking, cleaning, etc.. They are even being taught that women need a good smack to "keep her in line" and "turn her on." I don't know what religion this is supposed to be, but it isn't any form of Christianity I've ever heard of. Them labeling it so, doesn't make it true. FWIW, I'm all for religious freedom. Everyone should be able to practice whatever form of faith appeals to them and suits their own life. However, when that right infringes on any one else's personal freedoms and rights, that is not acceptable. Even if those other people are their children. We've come a long way from when children were considered property. They have rights too, even if their choices don't always equal what their parents believe. All we can do is teach them to be the best people they can be and give them the tools to be successful in their choices. ''And I said, I don't care if they lay me off either, because I told, I told Bill that if they move my desk one more time, then, then I'm, I'm quitting, I'm going to quit. And, and I told Don, too, because they've moved my desk four times already this year, and I used to be over by the window, and I could see the squirrels, and they were married, but then, they switched from the Swingline to the Boston stapler, but I kept my Swingline stapler because it didn't bind up as much, and I kept the staples for the Swingline stapler and it's not okay because if they take my stapler then I'll set the building on fire....'' |

I worked in childcare and most of the parents there had their children in 12 hours a day, plus when there was a holiday that most of them would have off (depending on their jobs) they would still bring their children in for atleast 1/2 the day. Big freaking whoop. Anecdotal. I can provide with anecdotal details too, that refute what you're saying, having worked in the childcare business myself. So - bzzzzzzt. Try again. |

I'm going to just come out and say it...yes, I am judging them for their religious beliefs. I won't try to deny it. I am sick and tired of how the
religious right in this country (all forms of extreme religion) have gotten away with tax breaks, bullying government, child abuse, lack of education or
worse...schooling masked as education when it is only more brainwashing of religion, and call it "religious intolerance" when someone questions it. I
believe the Duggars have an abusive household based on the way the family is portrayed in the media. I do not know this for fact, it is only a belief when
watching those children. The spoon description should leave few doubts. I think it is horrible that they feel it is a woman's god given choice to have as
many children as possible and would not want the government to interfere, yet they are trying to make a political career out of trying to get the Government to
interfere with a Woman's choice in unwanted (or medically irregular) pregnancies because of their own religious beliefs. Honestly, I don't care if you
worship a rock, I just don't want you to interfere with my rights not to worship that same rock. I also want the same rights and discounts given. I want
you to pay the same taxes that I pay. I want you to follow the same laws that I am required to follow, that includes being required by the state that my child
be schooled by an approved curriculum and not abused or neglected. At the end of the day, you can go home and continue to worship your rock and I'll go
home and continue to watch soft porn (ok...not really, but you get my point.)
I am judging this family the way that they are judging me. They don't want their children to play with mine because we don't have the same beliefs as them. That is clearly judgmental. So, lets be clear...these people are the definition of judgmentalism. And I believe there is a bible verse that states "Judge lest ye be judged." On a side note, some of these overzealous cult-like groups are rampant with mental illness. I have been around many people who are actively psychotic and one of the characteristics is religious intensity. What reinforces their beliefs is the fact that in their mind, these things are real and alive. There is no way to convince them otherwise because they have indeed experienced religious experiences, such as God talking to them, during a psychotic episode. I believe Hubbard was mentally ill. So are many other cult leaders. It can be easy for people to follow these leaders because their intensity is so strong. I wonder if Papa Duggar may have some of that going on as well. After 18 babies, I sure as hell would be psychotic! |

It's gone beyond religion/ Christianity IMO- these people use breeding as a gimmick.
Perfect example- Mrs Duggar choses to announce her 18th pregnancy in its 6th week, which is extremely early, particularly considering her age and previous medical history. Why? Because she can announce it to her children LIVE ON NATIONAL TV. Talk about sharing a private, intimate, family moment with the nation. Shows how much regard she has for her unborn child IMO- he/she is being used as a publicity tool. As bad as TomKat pimping Suri, as far as I am concerned. Nothing to do with religion- it's famewhoring, pure and simple. |

I can't reply to each message for some reason (I get an error), so I will try and respond using "quick reply" to as many as I can.
KIDLAWLESS77- Again I will say, I don't know that other person. I found this board when I did a google search for "Duggers". But thanks for assuming that those of us crazies with opinions opposite yours must be friends. MAMJUNEBUG-thanks for your post, espressing your opinions, concerns and views without putting down mine. NUNYA- You asked why I didn't respond to your whole post. Basically b/c I don't agree with you and my response will have more people attacking me. But since you asked, I believe parents have the right to raise their children in the way they feel is best (barring anything illegal). For those of us with strong religous convictions, we believe in raising our children to believe the same way (if one truly belives if your not a follower of ... your going to hell, why wouldn't they raise their child that way? This goes for any religion, not just Christianity. A true believer would not want their children choosing the "wrong way" and so would do everything they could to encourage they follow). I believe as parents it is our duty to protect our CHILDREN from what we perceive as harmful to their physical, spiritual and/or emotional well being. Once they are adults, they can choose their own way, beliefs, etc. I do not allow my children to watch/read anything related to magic and/or witchcraft. By your statement, I guess you feel I am abusing them for not opening up that "choice" to them. In my opinion, I am protecting them. MINNIE VAN DRIVER- One of the other posters mentioned they've never heard of anyone's child being in daycare for 12 hours a day, I was simply replying to her remark. Absolutely no reason for you to reply harshly to me. The part you failed to "quote" was where I said I no that everyone is not like that, but that I have seen that. |

Lastly I am saying goodbye to all the drama. I don't have time to be around people who, despite saying that I'm the one who is judgemental (though I
have not put anyone on this board down) continue to criticize me.
I posted yesterday that I would like to see some proof that the Duggers have taken money from the government, Discovery show, etc and no one has offered any. I will not be deleting my posts, so you can speculate anyway you want, as you have done with previous person who left (hmm- I wonder why in the world they left?). |

Goodbye _ Jenniesgroup, you don't want to stay, so see ya! (Waves bye-bye).
My husband came from a big family, and they lacked dental care, health care, clothes were always hand-me-downs, etc. He hated it, and you know, I thought they would be like the Brady Bunch and they are as strange as any other family, so blows the myth of happy big family. I think you shouldn't have more kids than you can realistically take care of. My number was 2. I wanted to have less kids and do more with the ones I have. |

As I said, it's not the number of kids that bugs me, it's the fact that they're famewhoring them, even as 6 week-old foetuses.

She says "goodbye" to all the "drama", but what did she expect to get when she signed onto this board and thread in the first place? She
did a Google search on "Duggars" and jumped into the shark tank without looking. You either swim or get eaten at Free Katie!
And I agree with you maum, it's not their beliefs I object to -- it's the Duggars' fame-whorish behavior and (IMO) exploitation of women and children for their political purposes that I find abhorrent. I believe as parents it is our duty to protect our CHILDREN from what we perceive as harmful to their physical, spiritual and/or emotional well being. If you want to protect your children, don't pimp them out to the media, don't beat them with wooden spoons and lift them by their arms, and don't farm out your babies to to your older children so you can pop out more until you die and leave them motherless. Dr. Laura wouldn't even approve of these people. ![]()
