So, what base is he appealing to? Widows and widowers? I mean seriously, he just doesn't have that "it" factor. So...who's voting for this guy??!!

I think Gokey is appealing to the older voting group mainly because he is very safe and there is nothing "threatening" about him. I think women in my age group (I hate to say) find him nonthreatening, much the way tweens loved Archuletta last season. In that way, he's almost asexual, if that makes sense. And he doesn't wear guyliner like Adam, or prance across the stage.

In other words, as mandi pointed out, he's very, very white bread.

But he doesn't connect with his songs. Maybe "Hero" but nothing since then. It all seems very rehearsed and cliche. Like his performances or not, Adam almost always seems connected to his songs. And Kris, lately, has really brought it on.

I stand by my opinion that out of the group that's left, Kris is the most commercial, appealing to the widest range of listeners. And he is most definitely the dark horse of the competition.

Regarding Dial Idol, based on raw numbers, they had Gokey pegged as next to last, with only LRR getting less votes. Now, if you go based on the busy signal percentages, LRR was on top. So either Dial Idol is getting it completely wrong, or American Idol is pulling shenanigans with the numbers (which is what I suspect).

They're idiots, which I don't necessarily find offensive. But I do find it offensive that they think I'm an idiot and would believe what they're saying.
