People, I'm tired with bitching about Katie's unkempt appearance, Suri's milk bottle dependence and Tom's horsey laugh. Pointing out their flaws is minor, "small fry" stuff compared to addressing the real phuckery that exists within Scientology. We know too much about this "church" to sit back and do absolutely nothing!! Boycotting a celeb Scientologist's work is fine and dandy but something is calling us to do more. Free Katians are capable of giving MORE than just snark!!

I urge everyone to send a message to the email links listed above, sign the online petition and (if possible) to join the global protests in support of what this brave senator is trying to accomplish. THERE IS NO EXCUSE for not contributing your two cents unless you are dead, near death or involved in some serious trauma/emergency. You know full well that the CULT of Scientology is desperately rounding up its members as I type this to send in their views. We cannot afford to lose this opportunity due to laziness!! Please take a moment of your time to send a message. It doesn't have to be long...just to the point. Type five sentences, fifteen sentences, fifty sentences....who cares? Just send it in!!!!!!!!!!
Keep the time difference in mind when sending that email by the Monday morning deadline in Australia.

Did I take my own advice and send in some emails? OH HELL, YEAH!!! Here's what I said in my letters to PM Kevin Rudd and Malcolm Turnbull (Leader of the Opposition):

Dear Sir,

My name is -------------------, a citizen of Canada. I learned of Senator Nick Xenophon's request for a parliamentary inquiry into the Church of Scientology through the internet. I support this man's effort to initiate an investigation into Scientology's abusive practices on behalf of its victims and to re-examine its tax-exempt status.

I am quite familiar with the detrimental legacy of this organization and its founder and I'm continually baffled (not to mention extremely disappointed) that very few federal authorities have confronted the church's numerous crimes. Many people already have their secret doubts and misgivings about this church but precious little is done to address them publicly. I implore you as [Prime Minister/Leader of the Opposition] to put aside any personal fears or political affiliations and to STAND UP with Senator Xenophon in holding Scientology accountable for its actions.

The Church of Scientology has the unique distinction of being the ONLY criminally convicted church in Canada. A court in France recently found the church guilty of fraud. In Germany, certain Scientology activities were regarded as being "contrary to the foundations of democracy". To this day, the church remains under heavy surveillance there. Justice Kevin Anderson from the Supreme Court of Victoria once summarized in a 1960s report that "Scientology is evil; its techniques are evil; its practice is a serious threat to the community, medically, morally, and socially; and its adherents are sadly deluded and often mentally ill... (Scientology is) the world's largest organization of unqualified persons engaged in the practice of dangerous techniques which masquerade as mental therapy". All of these events are just a sampling of Scientology's sordid reputation around the world. At some point, one must ask why this supposedly benign religion has a rap sheet that would rival the dirtiest convict in existence. It is well within your duty as a Member of Parliament to be vigilant in matters affecting the well-being of Australians. It is your responsibility to protect all citizens from any threat that would rob them of their human rights.

Abuse is not protected under "freedom of religion". Despite what Scientologists may claim, you are NOT a religious bigot for questioning a church that's mired in controversy. It is NOT a "witch hunt" to collect factual information about a group that is inherently deceptive. You are NOT jumping on the bandwagon to ridicule Scientology beliefs. This inquiry serves to give voice to those who would otherwise be silenced for speaking out and to bring light on Scientology's hidden tactics of intimidation and oppression. The allegations against the Church of Scientology are long-standing and varied but, for whatever reason, have remained out of public discourse for years...until now. It's time for someone to finally ask the hard questions, to listen to the victims and to heed the warnings. The truth needs to be known. You owe it to yourself, your constituents and, yes, even the world. It is my sincerest hope that Australia will be counted among the nations that refused to back down from pursuing justice.

I attentively await your decision.

See? Not hard. Use your own words to express how important this inquiry will be, not only for Australia but for people around the world. OK, kiddies....hop to it. Chop, chop, chop!!! image

What L. Ron Hubbard said:
"A civilization without insanity, without criminals and without war, where the able can prosper and honest beings can have rights, and where man is free to rise to greater heights, are the aims of Scientology."

What L. Ron Hubbard really meant:
"A civilization without competing mental health providers, without opponents and without battles for legal recognition as a legitimate church, where the most productive Scientologists can prosper and upstat church members can have rights and where thetans are free to subjugate the universe, are the aims of Scientology."
