thanks for answering, guys....

I recently read a great book called birth- about the history, social and medical of everything related to birth.
knwo why labor is so awful for us? turns out earlier "woman" who did not walk upright fully had babies fairly easily- our bio ancestors had very wide pelvises and they mostly just came out without much trauma. In order to become a species who walked upright, our pelvises had to be narrowed...so in a way its the female's sacrifice so we can all walk upright lol.
The brains of earlier species were also much smaller...as hmans developed larger brains, the heads became much too big to easily slide out...so there ya go!
