Just resurrecting this ancient thread to say that I am currently reading Wolf Hall, by Hilary Mantel. I bought it back in February but am just now reading it. It is absolutely beautiful writing ( I can see why she won the Man Booker prize) and is a fresh look at the events of Henry's reign, shown through an entirely different perspective, the eyes of Thomas Cromwell, with him cast as the 'hero'. Absolutely worth a read. The follow up, Bring Up the Bodies, which also won the Booker prize, is on my bookcase for when I've finished this one. She's currently writing the third book in the series.

Mantel is the woman who got a caning for comments she made about the Duchess of Cambridge that were taken way out of context.
