I think they're a bit bemused with the fact that Kate seems to be hanging around 'working' until William proposes, and then will drop everything to become Queen. It is peculiarly old-fashioned, and quite reminiscent of Diana who worked as a part-time nursery assistant until her engagement, and then never did a day's work again.
In this day and age, getting a highly coveted position in a trendy fashion company because of one's boyfriend/parental connections, being allowed endless holidays, not to mention 'stress-related' time off when the paps apparently got too much etc. doesn't make for a great role model IMO.

As far as Chelsy goes, I agree there is TOTAL adverse misogyny, and she is treated a lot more unfairly. Basically she's blonde and buxom, likes to go out with her girlfriends and wear short skirts, and that makes her a slut. That's the public perception the press has created for her.
The fact that she has pursued serious academic studies, and a discreet long-term relationship with her royal boyfriend, is always dismissed. Why?
