As I've said earlier, I have a friend who blew out of Scientology in recent years and was fairly high up in the organization. This is what he told me about Cruise's family:
Successful marriages are not a strong point in the family. Tiny's Mom had been married for years (over 25) to her second husband and resisted joining CO$ for many years. She was a religious Catholic who was very involved in her church in Florida. A couple of years ago, her husband became ill and she was very concerned. Tiny finally convinced her to take some courses at CO$ to help alleviate the stress. She did, and now she's "IN". The unfortunate side affect: She left her husband of over 25 years when he wouldn't join up and now lives with Tiny.
His sisters are in even worse shape. All are "IN" and have been for years (apparently he had more success converting them quickly). Sister Number 1 who was his publisister for a short period of time last year, is wrapping up marriage number 3. Sister number 2 is married to a second generation Scientologist she found through Cruise (that's the only successful marriage of the group), and sister number 3 walked out on her husband when she joined CO$ and has lived with Cruise for years. Sisters 2 and 3 homeschool all the children.
Looks to me as if he needs to have complete control of ALL the women and children in his life....even if it destroys their marriages and outside lives in the process.
There's just no room for outside influences in Tiny's tiny little world.
