Will Smith #5 smartest man in Hollywood |

Ok, well, the bar is already set pretty low considering it's Hollyweird and not MIT or something. But anyway, Entertainment weekly has a list of the 50
smartest people in Hollywood. Guess who was not on the list.

Who's in the top 10? What are they criteria btw? Career choices or intellect?
Cos professionally I agree with Will Smith at number 5. He's consistently maintained the image of a down-to-earth friendly family guy. He takes roles that suit his persona, and I understand that he was reasonably good in the Happyness film he did. Casting his real-life son as his son in the movie was of course a very shrewd move. Added the aw factor. Intellectually, however, erm. He's friends with Tiny. How smart can he be? |

Dear Gawd! Who's #1? Brad Pitt because, like, he like, likes, architecture?

This is what they said:
6) We ranked them first, and primarily, by their overall impact on the industry this year, and then factored in the influence of each person within their own profession. It allows for a diverse and surprising list, where a cinematographer (Emmanuel Lubezki) can take the #24 slot, while an Oscar winning director (Michael Moore) can come in below him at #27. It will also give you, we're sure, plenty to argue with us about. So how come Will Farrell is number 17 on the list. What has his great "impact" been? |

The whole will ferrell thing is probably because of the funny or die site he is part of with his comedy writing partner, its getting pretty influential and
more so now because Judd Apatow joined up as well.

From what I'm gathering, this has absolutely nothing to do with raw intelligence. Essentially, you could have an actor with a 180 IQ and a PhD in particle
physics from MIT and he'd score lower than Will Smith, if PhD actor isn't as big of a name as Will Smith. That's stupid. What's the point of
this, other than to come up with yet another list of names that essentially means nothing.
Chuck Norris invented black. In fact, he invented the entire spectrum of visible light. Except pink. Tom Cruise invented pink.
