Posts: 3932 01/18/08 05:37:45	Tags : None OMG,I logged onto AOL this morning, and one of the stories on the welcome screen is about Katie faking the marathon, with a link to a Moviefone story. It talks about Defamer, the conspiracy theories, her odd behavior on Letterman, Tom's crazy rant, and Gawker's refusal to take the video down. This is really hitting the mainstream!! Oh, and I almost forget, there is a reader's poll: Is the conspiracy theory plausible? People answered about 54-46 "YES", and another question, do you like the pre-Cruise or post-Cruise Katie, and it was 86-14 for Katie BEFORE she hooked up with Cruise.

About now the NE is probably kicking themselves for not running with this story before everyone started picking it up. Hippo, you might want to contact them again. The pieces of information which interested Defamer the most are (1) a man running next to Katie with a number that doesn't correspond with anyone registered for the race; and (2) another runner with split times exactly the same as Katie's, which I am told is impossible. I did not come up with either of these pieces of information. I made a lot of noise about the inconsistencies which I could see. The bra, the pants, the lack of sweat, the jewelry, the high heels, the lack of training, the lack of being able to give any details, etc., but as far as anything having to do with the chips, the photographing of the marathon, or the registration of the runners or their bib numbers, I know nothing about any of this. Somebody just posted on Defamer (don't know if it's true), but it's a woman who says her husband is in the military and that a co-worker of his has access to high-tech facial-identifying software. Supposedly he got hold of footage of the entire marathon, and the software could only identify Katie in the last four miles. I do hope that all my ranting did draw attention to this sham, and then people who had better expertise were able to weigh in. Whether I did that or not, I really don't know. I did post repeatedly on Defamer and got other people commenting, so I may have had a small effect. But Letterman and Ripa were already onto her. When I spoke to the NE in November, the reporter, Bob, said the staff were suspicious, but they had no hard evidence. I didn't provide enough for them to run a story.

From what I know you were one of the people who kept pushing the thread and always came up with new questions. YOU contacted the NE. NE found no hard case evidence like Defamer (this is why I believe they didn't publish the story) however, that story leaked out one way or the other. Somebody read / heard about it and then came the investigations. It's a sort of a domino game and you kept pushing it by asking new questions. Letterman and Rippa may have their ideas about her running or not, but they did not ask the real questions. They took her answers and went no further. Who knows, maybe they check out these sites and don't believe she ran, but the sure did not ask her anything. Even about the heels later that day.

"The book" was published 1993 / 94 and I have been waiting since then. Seeing all of this is one hell of a reward. I have been taught patience. What I Hippo reminded me was that there is actually no such thing as a stupid question. Sometimes I do feel afraid to ask myself because I am afraid to look stupid (which is what I fear most in life). However, I am learning from Hippo that this is not the case and that curiosity and honesty and courage to ask questions DO always pay out. I don't know how to access any other messages. I looked on my yuku profile page and can't see anything. I think as I have gotten older I have become less afraid of looking stupid. One advantage of being in my fifties. Somebody asked me if I thought I had anything in common with Don Quixote charging at windmills (regarding my Katie marathon obsession) and I said maybe, and I don't see anything wrong with that. There are worse things than attacking a windmill, mistaking it for something else.

Then next right to it it says, underlined "Images" and then there is a straight slash , like this "\|" and next to it, to the right, it says "Logout". Posts: 3 01/18/08 11:30:11	Hi ... I rarely post, but lurk alot. However, as a runner myself I just had to jump in. I firmly believe that there is no way in hell that KAK actually ran the NY Marathon. It has taken me two years to get to the HALF Marathon level. In all fairness, I would imagine that if I had trained harder, etc. I could be at the full marthon level by now. However, when I think back to the first time I ran and felt like I was dying after 60 short seconds, I realize how far I have come. Runners, especially marathoners, are some of the most fit people in the world. I find myself getting very defensive and angry that she would claim to have run the race. You have to train and train hard to get to the marathon level. There is also tons of cross-training involved. I am seriously ticked off at Mrs. Cruise at the moment. Those of us who are out running hills in the middle of blizzards regard her with disdain. By the way ... hope everyone is doing well!!!!! Apryl
