The Oprah Show Day One |
Lead | ||
|
The website for The Oprah Winfrey Show has a lengthy summary of today's show with Tiny complete with pictures and quotes. Be forewarned. It is nauseating.

I can't look either. I don't want to be disappointed and I get the feeling I will be because he probably behaved himself and watched everything he
said. I mean, this is a man trying to get back in the good graces of the public. I hope, I really hope that the media just snarks away. I will get my fill from
the snarks. Please, let there be snarks.

At first, I wasn't going to watch this because I KNOW it's going to be stupid.
Then I realized that I would not be able to snark about it unless I watch, so count me in. I'm on the West Coast and will probably be one of the last people to see it at 3:00 PM Pacific Time. Redpecker, I will snark for you if you don't want to watch. |

I am not supporting anything to do with this interview. Not hitting websites, not watching the show. I'll get my info second-hand. I hope the ratings for
everything totally suck.
Oprah firmly believes in karma. Well, she has an assload coming back at her for supporting a man who gives millions to a dangerous, murderous cult, and helping make the cult seem legit to the unsuspecting public. Enjoy that big cuppa bad karma, O.

Back-pedalling much Tom? From oprah.com:
Tom: Yeah, and then Matt Lauer. After the Matt Lauer interview on the Today show, Tom says he went back to watch the tape. Tom: I thought, 'Okay, I remember at that time I was feeling.' I was feeling pressed in the interview with Matt Lauer. For me, my issue was really about child drugging. It's not like it is today, like people are really kind of openly talking about this. Oprah: Are we doing too much drugging of our children? Are we doing too much drugging in society? Tom: I think that it's got to be the parent's choice. I think the parent should be able to and should make that decision. Still, when talking about his interview with Matt Lauer, Tom says that ultimately he "shot the messenger" and that his comments didn't come out as he intended. |

Very good point about keeping the hits from O's website, etc.
I'm beginning to think that even if he behaves himself, he won't win, because then he'll just be boring. Well, anyway - what snark there is, is gonna be a big ole birthday present out-of-season! Becaues I don't have any intention of watching it anyway. O blew it for me when she had that poor kid who'd been held captive for 4 years, had him wave at the police officers who followed up on seeing the abductor's truck ... like she wanted the three to BIG HUG. Hadn't the kid been made to do enough with a man he didn't know that he didn't want to do? It made me perfectly sick of Oprah, I'll never watch her or buy any of her stuff. |

Oh, for the love of Xenu. Maybe I won't watch after all, if it's going to be an hour of "my comments were taken out of context, blah, blah,
blah." I think it's obvious to anyone who saw that interview that he was NOT simply trying to say that parents should be able to choose whether their
children are on meds or not (um... why wouldn't the parents get to choose? Does he think Drs. are pouring drugs into kids when their parents
aren't looking, without their consent?). A lot pf people, including myself, believe that society in general is overmedicated these days, but MTP's
demeanor during the ML interview was very much a "let's throw the baby out with the bath water" kind of sentiment, not that medicating simply
needs to be something to be considered carefully. So it seems like poor wittle Tommy Gurl is going to make it seem like he's just a simple man who has
been horribly misunderstood. Pass the puke bucket now.
I think it's a privilege to call yourself a Katian. So for me
it really is KKW (Keeping Katie from Working). It's something that...I don't mince words with that. With anything that Sheila does. Being a Katian,
when you drive past a good celebrity trainwreck, it's not like anyone else... As you drive past, you know you have to stop and make a new t-shirt because
you know you're the only one that can... It's not just me. It's YOU, it's everyone out there re-reading KKW and looking at what needs to be
done and saying, "OK. Am I gonna buy a shirt or am I not gonna buy one?"... We are the authorities on celebrity trainwreck merchandise... we can
rehabilitate fashion victims...

Just FYI, unless you have a Nielsen box in your house, watching the show isn't going to do anything as far as the ratings system is concerned.

He is changing his tune, isn't he? Oprah should have asked him about his "go to guns" comment then. We all know that scientology is not about
"parents making the choice about medication", it is about "bad psychiatry, evil psychiatry". He is going to retract, back-pedal on his
comments because he wants people to feel sorry for him and like him again.

I'm with feng on this one. I refuse to show any interest or support in this show.
Any click on her website will be interpreted as 'cha ching' interest. Actually I'd love to know the list of advertisers for the show when it's on and I'll be sure to extend my disinterest to the advertisers also. |

Cupcakes | #12 | ||

Sorry. I didn't think about the hit on the website. But since it is too late, here are some highlights.
Katie had cupcakes waiting for Oprah. Tom still refers to Katie as "Kate." When Katie met Bella and Connor, she brought them cupcakes which made them really like her and think that she was cool. Tom had slippers for Oprah to wear at his house with her name engraved on a gold plate on the back of each slipper. He still cannot atriculate what is so frickin amazing about Katie Holmes. She just means so much to him. Katie is on her way out to "bring" the kids to town at the beginning of Oprah's visit. It appears that she speaks briefly to Oprah but is not interviewed. Tom talks about how strong Katie has been in dealing with the international spotlight and rumors about Suri. Of course, he just says that. Oprah does not ask why Katie looks like a corpse with no vitality who is so inarticulate that she cannot be interviewed. Seriously, if my family was under attack and I was a "strong tigress", I would demand that I get to be interviewed too. I would want to defend my family publicly especially since my perceived fraility and brainwashing is contributing to the rumors. The house is immaculate and carefully staged. Suri's playroom has all of the stuffed animals carefully in place. It does not even looked lived in. I just cannot shake the feeling that the place is usually filled with portraits of Hubbard but that the place was descienoed for the cameras. It was very stunning but creepy. Tom states that we all have the right to worship as we wish and he is not trying to tell anyone what to do. Blows off the Scientology videos as Tom talking to his congregation. Tom states that he gets along well with Katie's family and loves them. By knowing them, he sees how Katie came to be such a strong woman. |

Lying liars who lie.
From what I saw of the Matt Lauer interview, MTP was being dissmissive of Matt and making out he knew it all. Now he's turning around and saying "Oh, d'ah I was under pressure and maybe didn't express my thoughts correctly." Yeah, right! And as for parents having a choice... I wonder how many firmly entrenched scieno parents are allowed a choice. |

is there a comments section on Oprahs site? I think we should all let her know how we feel about her pandering to a dangerous, murderous cult

Katie's not on? TOTAL FAIL!
And Oprah didn't question the "just to my congregation" speech? That was hate speech, man! Obama's former pastor talked like that "just to his congregation" and has been removed!!! Karma karma chameleon, Oprah. It's gonna get ya. aintbuyinit, thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Ugh! There is no way in hell I can sit through an hour of this dribble. Re: Matt Lauer-How can anyone buy MTP's explaination that he was thinking about
kids? Matt Lauer asked him specifically about Brooke Shield's use of mediciation in treating her post-partum depression. Shield's is not a child. She
is a 40-something woman who was taking meds. She wasn't giving them to a child.
Re: Surly's playroom-I wouldn't be at all surprised if it was all for show and he had that room staged the day before Oprah's visit just for her benefit. Lastly, ENOUGH WITH THE GODDAMN CUPCAKES! Seriously! |

Tom was rude and aggressive to Lauer, he wasn't under pressure, he was just asked some direct questions which he didn't like.
He didn't say anything about choice, and when Lauer told him he knew people that had been saved by anti-depressants, he just called him glib. Re the house, didn't Hollywood Insider mention that his previous house had a creepy, unlived-in vibe as well? Like it was just a stage to impress visitors... Scary! And the slippers? Complete overkill. |
