My morning has started off well. I have a day off from work and was expecting to be called at 9am for a phone interview for a temporary promotion.
[It's just a short-term fill-in role but it's a jump to 3 levels up in the job classifications from where I am at now, and its a great opportunity to
learn new skills and tasks.] Anyhoo, as I said, I was expecting to be called at 9am. The call came in at about 08:35. I did the interview and all - it
lasted about 40 minutes and went OK. I hung up and then it dawned on me that I had just done my first ever nude interview - I had just
gotten out of the shower and had been drying myself off when the phone rang.
What's the oddest interview situation you have been in?

I sent my resume in response to what appeared to be exactly what I was looking for - a part-time administrative asst. position. I had all the right
qualifications and then some. It was offering the money I was looking for and BONUS, it said the town of location was my own very small town (which meant it
was literally within maybe 2 or 3 miles of my home). Perfect. Well, they very quickly contacted me, asked me a few questions over the phone and invited me in
for an interview. I told them I would love to come in and I asked for the address and the name of the person I should ask for when I arrive. I was told to ask
for Steve. She never did tell me the name of the company - nor had I asked.
The next day I drove to the address and walked inside......................of a Jewish Chabad. Oh wait, did I mention that I am Catholic? I made the appt. so I didn't see any reason to stop at this point, so I tell the first person I see that I am there for an appt. with Steve. The man comes back a few minutes later to tell me they don't have anyone named Steve there. Then, right behind him comes a woman who asks me my name and then says "You mean Rabbi Zvi" (not Steve)  . This commenced nearly
an hour long interview with the Rabbi that was a disaster all the way through for all parties involved. The shocking thing afterwards was that they actually
called my references ...........but then I never heard from them again.

Ok, the strangest interview I ever had was with some guy who looked completely uninterested in anything I had to say and spent all his time shoving the end of
his pen up underneath his top lip to the point where it distended his lip, then scratching the side of his nose with it, then shoving it under his top lip
again. I (thankfully) didn't get the job.
The worst interview I ever gave was following a night out. I was nervous as anything in the run up to it, so a friend kidnapped me and took me out to cheer me up and relax me. Now, I normally don't drink much, maybe just one or two beers now and then, but on this night she talked me into getting totally hammered. Then we started on some vodka that she'd got from somewhere or other.... Tip of the week - if your vodka smells like it has overtones of nail polish remover DON'T DRINK IT! It has probably been made in someones bath. Unfortunately, with me not being a big drinker and already being plastered at this point my brain wasn't connecting the dots. I somehow made it to the interview the next day and spent ten minutes before I went in heaving up my guts up in the bushes at the side of the office. I don't remember the verbal part of the interview at all, so gawd only knows what I said. Following the verbal interview I made an excuse to go to the bathroom and threw up again. Then I was supposed to sit a competance test which involved organising some facts and tallying some figures. I got the sitting part out the way just fine, it was the rest of it that I had a problem with. I sat there looking at the paper for the full 15 minutes I was allotted but I don't think I managed to do anything more than write my name and scribble a couple of (probably wrong) answers. Then it was all over, I left the building, threw up in the bushes at the other side of the office and somehow made it home again. I didn't get the job and couldn't face anything alcoholic for well over 12 months afterwards. I now never even consider drinking anything for a week before an interview. I'll tell you about my strangest interview, well at least the one that drove me the craziest and it was just last month. I was heading to a small city
about 30 minute from where I live to go interview at this mental health agency and it was at 10:00 am. My grad school is about 25 minutes from there and my
house (the three cities kind of make an equilateral triangle). So I fill up my car with gas, about $55 worth and set out at about 9:00 because I wasn't
exactly sure where it was and I wanted to be a bit early. So I get there, wait about 30 minutes and then some after driving that far and at about 10:15(!) the
lady calls me and says there's this meeting she forgot about, could I occupy myself until 12? I say sure, my class isn't until 4 so I've got time
and I really want to get this over with. My SIL lives about 25 minutes in the other direction and I hardly get to see her so I think I'll drive down that
way and stay for a couple of hours.
So I drive that much more, then turn around an hour and a half later and drive back, and at 12:15, I'm sitting on the poarch of the locked office, she isn't back yet, and the lady calls me again, she said she got out about 15 minutes ago, but decided to get something to eat (at a buffet!!!) and wants me to wait on her to get finished! So at 1 o'clock, I'm still sitting there and finally she pulls up. She lets me in, asks me a few basic questions, and doesn't even really look at me the whole time, she sits down for maybe a minute during the whole interview.She is constantly getting up, making phone calls, TEXTING (mind you she's kinda old so I was surprised at this) and gets up and goes outside several times during the interview. She never said excuse me or offered any explanation. This whole interview, which has consisted of less than five minutes worth of questions has taken over two hours and I have just over an hour until I have to be at school. Then she has the nerve to say that she has to go pick up something at another office and would I mind driving over there behind her so she could finish the interview. I really wanted the job so I did. Across town another 15 minutes. Five minutes there and she was done with me. Then I had to drive almost 40 minutes back home to get my school things (remember I was supposed to be done by 11 that morning!) and then another 25-30 minutes to school and back. I forget how many miles I logged that day, but I was pissed that night. All of that running around for an annoying interview and a WHOLE TANK of gas! I was irratated the whole rest of the week. Thankfully though it looks like I might have the job, but I'm really looking at something else now. I don't think I could put up with her as a boss, lol.

I went for an interview at a OB/gyne office one time, for a medical asst. position, with some front desk thrown in. I went it and met with the office manager
who was very nice. She then called my references...all people who apparently absolutely love me and raved about me...and immediately called me in for a second
interview with the docs. So I get there and we get started and they ask me if I know how to file. I say yes...of course. THEN one of the docs actually asks me
if I'm comfortable with the "whole alphabetical nature of that type of work." I was absolutely flabbergasted that this doctor would ask a
30something woman, with three kids and tons of experience in a medical office, basically if I know my ABC's. All I could think if to answer back
was..."well, yeah, seeing as I learned the ABC song when I was like 2, mananged to master it well enough to graduate with a 4.0 with highest honors, be
accepted to William and Mary, and then teach it to my own three kids." Needless to say, I don't think she appreciated my "DUH!!!" tone of
voice, and I didn't hear anything back from them.
(what kind of question is that to ask a grown woman??!! Seriously)
ETA: Fortunately, I was able to stop myself before the real smart ass in me kicked in and asked if they would like me to sing it for them.
''And I said, I don't care if they lay me off either, because I told, I told Bill that if they move my desk one more time, then, then I'm, I'm quitting, I'm going to quit. And, and I told Don, too, because they've moved my desk four times already this year, and I used to be over by the window, and I could see the squirrels, and they were married, but then, they switched from the Swingline to the Boston stapler, but I kept my Swingline stapler because it didn't bind up as much, and I kept the staples for the Swingline stapler and it's not okay because if they take my stapler then I'll set the building on fire....''

Another funny question I got from an interviewer had to do with the fact that I'm a Virginia girl and I worked at the hospital in Newport News for quite
some time. Some woman interviewing me went into some 20min. dissertation about how much she just loves that catalog and asking about whether it really is in
Newport News...it is...and if they have like a store there you can go, etc.. I was just sitting there the whole time like "REALLY?? You really like those
shitty clothes??" Of course, I didn't say it, I just kinda dumbly nodded and added a "yeah" here and there.

I don't have a personal weird interview story, but I do have a second-hand one. At one time, I worked for a regional health authority in a remote northern
Canadian town. I was talking with a colleague of mine, a psychiatric nurse who had moved up there because of her husband's job. She applied for a position;
the the region liked her application and called her for a phone interview. This isn't all that unusual; lots of people do phone interviews in situations
like this because the hospital (and the centre of administration for the health region) was located in a place that will always be my mental definition of
"the middle of nowhere." My colleague, however, was already living in town. She pointed out that she lived about 3 city blocks away from the hospital
and could do the interview in person. They insisted on doing a phone interview anyway. She got the job.
