Mr Packer was introduced to Scientology by his friend Tom Cruise in 2002. Friends say they remain close. That's not gonna last long if this story is true.
EDIT: I wonder if this is the big news that Tory was keeping mum about?

I actually meant to tell you all that I read recently that Packer decided the Co$ was B.S.

Oh YAY! I just hope the church decides to "handle" him. Billionaires don't like being "handled." Heh.

Let's hope this is true. If so, Tom and Davey's little evil plan is backfiring big time! So much for all the work by FUBAR PR.

From what I have been hearing within the critic ranks, it is true.
"How about that? You hold on to the tin cans and then this guy
asks you a bunch of questions, and if you pay enough money you get to join the master race. How's that for a religion?" -- Frank Zappa, to a concert audience at the Rockpile, Toronto, May 1969 |

Woah, this is HUGE. And it explains a lot of the things that have been happening within Channel 9 lately. Remember that news story I posted about on 9 that
said KAK was the best dressed at the Costume Gala? And then later all those comments on the ninemsn website about Katie-bot etc? Perhaps Packer had been trying
to stay in the Cruise's good books, and good ol Tommy Boy stuck his nose in and it backfired??? Just seems like something he'd do.

So after just two years of involvement Packer was Co$ royalty! However, observers suggest Mr Packer's expanding casino empire has presented issues difficult to reconcile with Scientologist beliefs. So business won out. You gotta love that! |

The Sydney Morning Herald story quoted in this thread has one line that I rather like:
If L. Ron still lives on some way after having "dropped his body" to "conduct further research," he must be somewhat unhappy that one of
David Miscavige's favourite ways of relaxing is going to Vegas to gamble.

WTF wrote: I think they had a scientology wedding ceremony as well as a white wedding a la the Cruises, same loud hurrah but not as loud as the Cruises. When did the
Cruises go to Germany recently?

I thought the last time they were in Germany was last summer when Tom was filming his next bomb, I mean
Valkyrie.

Thanks PP, that was what I thought. So, what was this "recent" get together that this article meant?
