We don't get her show here so I've only seen bits of it on YouTube- good to see that she does more than just the celebrity publicity interviews. I must say that, for a Presidential candidate, who is used to making big speeches in front of crowds, McCain really didn't articulate his position well, did he? He was polite and agreed to disagree but that was all. I know that he would normally rely on speechmakers, but the topic of gay marriage has had a lot of media exposure lately and I would have expected him to have at least one clear reason that he could argue in simple terms. |

The only argument he can make is that God doesn't approve. That's it. That's the only argument. He didn't make it because it's an ass

Politically, on the gay marriage issue, McCain is in a tricky position. He would alienate a lot of socially conservative voters if he were to come out in
support of gay marriage, so he muddled through the best he could. On the other hand, where else are those voters going to go if he were to say he supports gay
marriage?
I hate to rub it in folks. Canada has had gay marriage for about 3 years now. The Prime Minister at the time was a church-going Catholic. Interestingly, the Canadian Minister of Justice who became famous for saying, among other things, that "the state has no business in the bedrooms of the nation" (and who subsequently became Prime Minster, that person being Pierre Trudeau), was also a Catholic--Jesuit educated at that.
