His assets, his posessions i.e. artwork, cars, music catalogues (he owned 1/2 of the Beatles and other recording artist's ASCAP or BMI) have a huge net worth. They alone are valued at millions if not billions. Those are the "royalties" rights that when music is played on the radio or TV or any airwaves or even in restaurants or at theme parks, there is a percentage which is paid into the writer's or producer's professional guild accounts. I know about that because my hubby is a musician (writer/producer) and that's part of how we earn part of our living. It can be extremely lucrative if you are someone like Paul McCartney or P. Diddy or Michael Jackson for that matter.any high profile musician who wrote or produced and retained the rights to his/her own music.
He sold a large chunk of Neverland to get more money, he sold part of the Beatle's catalogue to Sony for the money but he spent a great deal even more than he earned. He lived a lavish, expensive life, paying for doctors to come to him, for food to be brought in to his family and staff. Hell, he paid a huge staff. He always flew private jets, he paid for landscaping. Maintenance, travel, custom clothing. He settled tons of multi-million dollar lawsuits just to keep them out of court so he wasn't in the headlines chronically. He paid Debbie Rowe a fortune to have kids and then go away and keep her mouth shut.
But on "paper" he was worth a great deal. Now with him gone and the major drain of money shut off, theoretically the cash will begin to accrue again. If his family doesn't suck it all up. It takes money to raise children, pay for a nanny or two or three.
