Now, as you all know, I LOVES me some Julianna Margulies. I can watch that gal in almost anything, even that crappy film about snakes on the plane. Julianna is
my favorite cinematic brunette. If a rose in full bloom could move, it would be Julianna's exquisite, luscious lips. . .(drools) but I digress.
I watched The Good Wife. Julianna creates a very believable, very strong character. She's married to a Grade-A, blue-ribbon politico prick, and I shared every bit of the disgust that's plainly evident on Julianna's character's face. Kudos to Chris Noth, too, for perfectly playing said schmuck. Christine Baranski, too, is great as Julianna's back-stabbing boss. Whoever played her pain-in-the-ass mom-in-law was good, too. A fine group of actors all around. BUUTTT. . .it's a lawyer show. And I hate lawyer shows. I hate them, 'cause each and every last one of them are all the same---boring and depressing. From Perry Mason to Law & Order to The Good Wife, they're all alike. I just can't tolerate them. I always come away from them sleepy and/or feeling like I need a shower. Ms. Margulies, in a few articles I read, went out of her way to paint TGW as primarily a show about her character's personal life, with the law bit as merely a backdrop. As much as I love her, I disagree. This is yet another legal eagle show. And it's odd that Julianna would go for another one of these, since her last TV adventure was also a lawyer show, the unmissed Canterbury's Law. While her character in The Good Wife is more sympathetic and humane than the slutty, volatile Liz Canterbury, Margulies has basically returned to the scene of the crime. Hey! I made a pun! I don't see myself watching TGW again---unless I really need a Julianna Margulies fix. Then, I'll do what I did with Canterbury's Law. I'll just tune in, turn the sound off and simply oogle one of the most beautiful women working on TV today. And pray that, eventually, she finds the right vehicle for her considerable acting skills---namely, one that doesn't involve a court room.

Yikes. I tried watching this thing again---last time that'll happen.
As much as I love Julianna, the girl was bullsh*tting with both barrels when she claimed, in interviews, that The Good Wife wasn't a lawyer show. TGW isn't a lawyer show like Gunsmoke wasn't a cowboy show. I can't stand that boring legal-eagle stuff. If I want to see Julianna Margulies, I'll stick to You Tube. |
