The 48-year-old Hollywood actor, whose death-defying stunts atop the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa, grabbed global headlines only a day ago, also met Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai during the occasion. Sheikh Mohammed showed Cruise how to handle a falcon on his arm. As a producer, Cruise said it was hard to find places that appeared fresh on screen but that Dubai offered exactly that opportunity. "Dubai is very cinematic. We are looking forward to present that on film," he told media at a conference earlier. "Dubai is a city I always wanted to shoot in. It's a very challenging film and people here have been extraordinary in helping us get this project going." Cruise publically thanked Sheikh Mohammed at the conference. Meanwhile, Sheikh Mohammed was greeted on Tuesday by Quentin Bryce, Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia in Flemington, where the Melbourne Cup Carnival 2010 was held. Palomares, a filly owned by Sheikh Mohammed, won the Hybrid Plate race.It appears that we are going to be treated to every Cruise burp and fart for his entire time in Dubai. This time I don't think it's him milking them, it's them milking him for all he's worth. Dubai is on very shaky financial ground and I'm sure that's one of the reasons why they agreed to the filming - so they could use it for publicity.

Pomp and circumstance marked the ending of the the nearly monthlong shoot of the fourth "Mission: Impossible" movie with the ghostly title "Mission: Impossible -- Ghost Protocol" in Dubai.
Pictures published in the local media showed "Mission: Impossible" star Tom Cruise posing with Dubai ruler Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid al-Maktoum and Dubai authorities mingling with the cast and crew during the farewell meeting, which took place some days ago.
As a token of appreciation to the glitzy Persian Gulf hub, Cruise and "Mission: Impossible" director Brad Bird and producer Bryan Burk gave Sheikh Maktoum a director's chair with his name on it and a clapboard with autographs of the stars of the film.
As they declared the mission accomplished in Dubai, the team also thanked Dubai authorities for their cooperation during the filming, said local Arab media reports.
At the end of October, media reports surfaced that the production had moved to Dubai to film a sequence at the world's tallest building, the 2,716-foot tall Burj Khalifa.
"I'll be spending many days, many hours on the side of this building," Cruise told the Associated Press then. "I can't give you details, but I will be up there."
The new "Mission: Impossible" movie is scheduled for release in December 2011. Other filming locations for the film include the Czech Republic and Vancouver, Canada. But Dubai was the place the cast and crew spent the longest time while filming on location, according to Dubai-based daily Gulf News.
Aside from Cruise as secret agent hero Ethan Hunt, British actor Simon Pegg, Oscar nominee Jeremy Renner and Paula Patton co-star in the film. In total, the "Mission: Impossible" franchise has earned around $1.5 billion at box offices worldwide.

Filming for Mission Impossible 4 is officially underway in Vancouver where production will continue through March.
Reportedly, production has started at Burnaby’s Canada Motion Picture Park and, according to this Tweet, they are filming on location at the Vancouver Delta Conference Centre today.
Tom Cruise has been keeping a low profile since arriving in Vancouver last week, though rumor has it he was spotted at Whistler over the weekend.
Based on some of the rumors about where they may be filming next, Cruise won’t be able to hide out for long. Agent Ethan Hunt is expected to make appearances at some of the Vancouver area’s most famous landmarks, like the Richmond Olympic Oval, where a rooftop chase scene is scheduled to take place.

These are the first shots of Tom Cruise in Vancouver – taken last night as he was leaving the studio. As previously mentioned, he’s been pretty stealth in town. Travels with tight security. In and out mysteriously – flew out for the weekend, then back again, and his spent long hours at work without much downtime. Jeremy Renner on the other hand – well he’s been enjoying himself in Vancity. He was at the Commodore last night for Steel Panther. They’re friends. Renner even got up on stage for the last song of the main set Don’t Stop Believin’. People who met him say he was cool, short, sexy, and has great skin. Thanks Carol! Photos from Punkd Images

The Cruiser has finished his Christmas break and Jared is making sure everyone knows he's back at work. Next up - photos of KAK at the gym.
Tom Cruise cracks up on the set of Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol on Monday (January 3) in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The 48-year-old actor shot an action scene where he hops out of van to use a pay phone before getting back in. Tom took some time out to greet a couple of female fans with hugs! Co-star Simon Pegg was also spotted on the film’s set. Last month, Tom filmed some scenes in Burnaby, Canada after wrapping up production in Dubai.

Tom Cruise bolted down a flight of stairs and raced across a street, dodging parked cars, in an action sequence filmed outside the Vancouver Convention Centre on Friday night.
Meanwhile, fans gathered on the streets, rugged up in winter jackets in the near-freezing weather, just steps away from the Hollywood star.
And the Top Gun megastar didn’t let them down. Baring his trademark toothy grin, he springboarded up to to the crowd, waving wildly, to call out: “Hello, everyone!”
Minimal security could be seen outside the waterfront area, which has been transformed into a little corner of India — complete with palm trees, market stalls and signage — for filming of the action blockbuster, Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol.
Crew have been running power cables down Howe Street and hanging banners all week in preparation of the night shoot, which was expected to run until 3 a.m. Saturday.
Cruise notoriously tackles his own stunts, and his MI4 character secret agent Ethan Hunt pulled out all the punches by throwing himself over vehicles as he made his way from one side of the road to the other.
Earlier in the day, the star’s A-list wife, Katie Holmes, and their fashionista daughter, Suri, were spotted shopping at Chapters bookstore in downtown Vancouver.
Filming of Mission Impossible 4 began in Hollywood North in December, largely at Burnaby’s Canada Motion Picture Park, where scenes for Twilight, Fantastic Four and X-Men were previously filmed.
Cameras were also rolling under the Burrard Street Bridge earlier this week.
MI4 co-stars include Simon Pegg (Shaun of the Dead), Mikael Nyqvist (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) and Josh Holloway (Lost).
Filming of the action sequel began in Prague and Dubai; they’ll be shooting locally until March.
